Licensing and operation

Our services relating to the licensing and operation of nuclear facilities include the following activities:

  • support during the licensing procedure
  • management of operations manuals
  • design of shielding
  • dose estimation for personnel for the purposes of
    • “Guideline for physical radiation protection monitoring for determining body doses” (RiPhyKo),
    • “Guideline for the radiation protection of personnel during the performance of maintenance work in nuclear power plants with a light-water reactor” (IWRS I) and
    • “Guideline for the radiation protection of personnel during maintenance, modification, waste management and dismantling activities in nuclear facilities and installations” (IWRS II)
  • calculation of the activation of metallic components and building structures
  • preparation of technical safety evaluations
  • criticality and burn-up calculations
  • propagation and dose calculation pursuant to § 47 Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) for normal operation1
  • hazardous incident evaluations pursuant to §§ 49/50 Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV)
  • evaluation of beyond-design-basis events (corresponding to “Safety testing pursuant to § 19a Nuclear Energy Act – probabilistic safety analysis guideline –” (PSA level 2 and level 3))
  • Water ecology calculation of the radiation exposure of flora and fauna

1 Note: On the basis of the new General Administrative Regulation expected for 2019 according to § 100 para. 3 Radiation Protection Ordinance of 2018 (“AVV Activities”) we will in future also be able to offer dispersion and dose calculations according to §§ 99, 100 and 101 Radiation Protection Ordinance of 2018.
