BRENK has completed the project “Safety assessment of ANDRA’s construction licence application documents for the French deep geological disposal facility project (Cigéo)” for the German Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE).

This provides the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Acion, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) and BASE with an early expert assessment of the application documents submitted in early 2023 for the construction of a deep geological disposal facility for long-lived medium-level radioactive waste from nuclear facilities and high-level radioactive waste from reprocessing in France. Our assessments was focused on the topics “repository safety” and “potential environmental impacts on Germany”.
